Excite is a good general search engine, that offers many features. The size of the database used is not as large as that for some search engines, but Excite supplements its web page searches with results from other things, such as news, and info. Excite allows member to customize their searches in various ways, as well as using other features like email. While in general the size of the data base leads to less results on obscure subjects, Excite is very useful for finding information on common subjects, because of the information it provides in addition to the web pages.

Provides information from the news, and other sources, in addition to web pages in the search results.	The size of the database often leads to lack of relevant results on less popular searches.
Searches for very popular things result in a special page containing even more specific information. This can be very good for getting a general overview of something.	The sorting algorithm does not seem to interpret a long string of text the same way most search engines do. Because of this the use of commands is highly recommended.
The web page results are displayed in a very good way, which makes it easier to pick which web page you want to look at.	There are so many other features, especial on the main page, that the search engine can sometimes be overshadowed.
