Category Based Search Engines

These are search engines that put every page in their database into a category. These categories are part of a category hierarchy, beginning with something as basic as Entertainment, and ending with something as specific as Metallica. Each of the categories, except the most basic one, is inside another category. As an example, the Yahoo category, Metallica, is inside these other categories:
Entertainment > Music > Artists > By Genre > Rock and Pop > Metal > Metallica
Each category based search engine has its own database, so the categories will be different in each one.

The main reason to use a category based search engine is when you are looking for information on a very popular topic, like Metallica. You can type in your topic, and search as normal. The first set of results displayed, however, will not be web pages, but rather all categories that fit your search. You can then go to this category for only pages on your search topic. This is very helpful in eliminating useless results, that may contain one reference to your search topic.
