The Search Engines

The search engines have been divided up into different categories. The categories are as follows.

General Search Engines
These are the basic search engines, which will find specific web sites for you, by searching a database of web sites and attempting to return those that best meet your search.

Metasearch Engines
These search engines run your search on various general search engines, and return the best results from the combination of engines.

Category Based Engines
While they search much like the general engines, these search engines divide all the pages in their database into categories, allowing you to search normally or to look at all pages that are in a category.

Webrings
While they are not actually search engines Webrings can be a useful way to find many sites about a specific special interest.
